My 9 month old doesnt like solids still at the moment so she eats food pureed.
she usually likes pouches like tomatoey pasta, cheesy pie etc. all of a sudden shes refusing and only will eat the fruit pouches which i barely give because i dont want her preferring sweet.
is it normal for her to stop liking them? She ate a chicken dinner one the night before but she wont eat the 2 i said that she used to

i previously said that she will not eat solids, I’ve been trying since my HV said to. My nursery nurse said it’s fine to give pureed. I’m giving her chunky foods to start getting her to eat solids. When solids are offered she gags and throws it.

looking into it more as I haven’t had much response yet, I found it’s because of her teething, so I don’t see why you have decided to lecture me on giving purées to my child. You can’t tell someone to stop doing something that works for someone’s child.

Don’t post if you don’t want advice. No one is lecturing you.

I asked about why she stopped eating what she usually ate, not asking about what food I gave her. Telling someone to stop giving her what works for her isn’t fair. They are all different. I asked for advice because I’m a first time mam. It is being lectured

@Bee232 you're bound to get a variety of opinions when you ask for help on here and weaning is one of those odd subjects where people can seem almost Evangelical about how they weaning their own LOs and think that all babies should be weaned the same.

Just ignore any advice that doesn't suit you Wink

Babbahabba · 24/12/2024 19:57

Babies have to be physically developed enough as well to be able to cope with finger food/BLW. It takes some babies a lot longer. People preach evangelically nowadays about BLW from six months but not all babies are the same- there's a huge variation. As with the breast/bottle debate, fed is best. 😊

That’s what thought, I’d rather her eat than not.
i try everyday with her with solids before i give her a pouch. She has porridge for breakfast and then I offer her solids for dinner but 100% of the time she won’t eat it only play with it. So I give her a pouch that’s savoury. I do try giving her cucumber sticks etc in the day but she holds them and just bashes them on the tray

She’s 9 months, we looked in her mouth and noticed her gums are swollen up the top so we’ve worked out it is teething. I agree too I think she needs more time. I feed her 1 pouch and she always has porridge for breakfast. I do offer solids but she won’t put them in her mouth, if she does she just gags and throws it. That’s why I give her purées aswell as I still want her to eat and get used to savoury foods x

We are taking weaning very slowly on the advice of a feeding team that DD2 is under as she had a lot of tongue problems (very very slow healing tongue tie division, which wasnt found until 8w). We do a mix of purees + finger food. I bought a blending stick and pop whatever we / DD1 is having in there with a drop of boiled water/formula and make my own purees. DD2 does also have pouches - especially on the nights that DH works late and I have both DC are home together - but I try and homemake them wherever possible. You could try that as well? There is an Ella's Kitchen recipe book called First Foods and it lots of savoury recipes by age that you can make into purees/ soft food.

Just to let you know, Ibruprofen is much better for dental pain than paracetamol so if you have some, I'd give her a dose Xmas Wink

How is she today @Bee232? Have those teeth popped through yet? Wink

Hiya appreciate the check up! I haven’t checked this morning, she went back to sleep after her bottle this morning and last night she went to bed at 7pm
which she hasn’t done in 3 weeks because of the teething so I’m hoping it’s calmed down a bit😁
