Fish

What's the best way to get started with fish?

My SIL has been buying fish fingers and taking off the breadcrumbs and giving her DD the fish inside. I don't know if that is a good idea or not!

I did fish in cheese sauce - with added spinach - think it is an AK recipe that I kind of got from a friend. Just bought some white fish and cooked it in milk - added some cheese and spinach - then whizzed it all up. Was very tasty but didn't go down well with dd the first few times I tried it. She now loves it!!

i was given a fish chowder recipe that ds loved (when he ate my cooking )

veg stock, or water, frozen corn, frozen peas, add white fish, boil for about 10 mins. blend.

i bastardised (sorry, can't think of a polite word for it), by adding potato too to make it more filling.

went down at great speed.

Just cook some fish and give it. Easy as that.

What a faff with the fish fingers!!! She could just bake some cod. It's cheap and easy!

My DD loves salmon en croute.

oh lol at your sis! what does she do with the breadcrumbs? i know some people find cooking fish a bit scary though. all i do is put the fish (usually salmon) in a tin foil parcel with olive oil and or a bit of butter and bake it in the oven for 20 mins. you can also put veg in the parcel, it comes out lovely and soft and juicy. i serve it with lemon cous cous. easy peasy.

She feeds them to my brother! She is weaning at four months and is always telling me off for not having given my son fish or chicken yet. He only just turned six months though.

Will he manage to eat it if I don't make it mushy?

if he's 6 months then there's no need to make it mushy, just let him eat it himself with his hands.
