10mo not interested in solids..when should I worry?

looking for any tips, reassurance, or advice!

My 10.5 month old little girl has never really taken to solids. We had to do BLW from the get go as she pretty much refused to eat off a spoon so with no teeth I don’t think she ever got much food! I was pretty chilled about it (I know it should all work out in the end and my first was such a good eater). We do eat with her as much as I can and let her play with / explore the food which she does fairly happily.

As we get closer to her first birthday I’m just concerned how we’re going to make the transition to nursery etc. she still bfs a lot (never taken a bottle) when I try to limit that/ offer food instead/first she won’t have it.

she has also been ill for the last week or so and has started refusing pretty much all food, even her favourites like yogurt and fruit. I know food before one is just for fun but I can’t help but worry she isn’t getting enough and when I go back to work in a couple weeks the bf is going to be reduced a lot. Her weight is plateauing too - she hasn’t gained any in the last month or so.

are there any other signs/ red flags I should look for as to when to seek more help ? Not even really sure what a GP would do at this stage - you can’t force them! Anyone have experience with things like feeding therapy and why they went for it?

What's the play with feeds when you go back to work @Childofthe1990s? Are you going to feed on wake up, pick up and before bed and see how she copes with water and solids during the day? Mine were bottle refusers but would take a cup of milk if they weren't with me.

You might find that she wants feeding more at night but this is probably as much for connection as food. Once she's 12 months you can try a bit of gentle night weaning.

If she's too poorly for her favourites, has she been checked over by the GP and have they checked her throat and ears? If not, I'd get those checked and try her with a bit of pain relief about an hour before lunch or dinner Flowers

Have you had any luck since?
in a similiar boat, also breastfeeding, but baby is only 9 months.
Btw if baby still isnt eating, you need toncontact the Health Visitor who will refer you to the Community Health Worker.
We’ve already been seen twice although no suggestions have worked yet but they may work for you.
Plateauing weight is normalas long as still on her curve.

@LemonRobin the OP didn't come back to the thread after her initial post. You could try an @ though to see if you can get her attention Wink
