9 month old stuck on puree

We do a mixture, I spoon feed her porridge and breakfast and puree and yogurt at lunch, but for dinner she has finger food. But I don’t think she’s actually getting any of it, a small amount might go into her mouth but she just pushes it out again? And most things she just drops on the floor fairly quickly.

I’m a bit worried as she seems behind my friends babies the same age who happily munch on snacks and lunch, it doesn’t help she doesn’t have any teeth yet. We start nursery in a couple of months and I’m getting worried.

It's worrying when you think they're a little behind isn't it?

How does she do if you put a bit of finger food in the side? So for insurance if you give her porridge in the morning, have you tried giving her some banana/peeled pear/fresh berries on the side as a finder food?

Does she have smooth puree at lunchtime or is she coping with mashed food?

It can be so worrying can't it? But I was told something when my youngest wouldn't eat. My friend asked how many adults do I know that will only eat puree? That helped me relaxed a little. Another way to look at it is to record what she eats over the week rather than focus on the day. My youngest would sometimes go a day or longer without eating hardly anything (he was born prem with sepsis which left him with gut issues so food was difficult for a long time). Sometimes it took me doing a full cabaret act to get anything in.

I hope you can feel less worried about it. She will get there. I now have teens and preteens who eat anything not nailed down.

I think you are fine at this age. Some food is going in and so me is being played with to understand texture and how to move food around her mouth. It's all a learning experience. Stick with the finger food and she will get there.
