How much milk for over 1 year old?

Strictly speaking this isn't really a 'weaning' question as DD is now nearly 20 months, but I didn't know where else to put it.

Can anyone tell me if there is a minimum amount of milk DD should be having each day? Up until yesterday, she was having around 20oz of full fat milk a day (6oz mid morning and mid afternoon and around 8oz before bed) as well as a yogurt, sometimes cheese and milk in cereal on top. As she's only been picking at her tea (usually a small sandwich or a toasted muffin or scrambled egg) followed by a yogurt, I thought if I cut out the mid-afternoon milk, she'd be more likely to eat all her tea. She is quite small for her age (21lbs or so) and I'm concerned that if she continues to still pick at the food teatime, with cutting out the extra milk, she's actually having less than before which surely can't be good. I'm probably panicking too soon and need to give it a few days for her appetite to improve but it'd be good to know whether or not the reduced 14oz of milk is enough. Thanks.

think it's about a pint.
but you can include yoghurt, cheese etc in that. so she doesn't have to have it all from milk

350mls (approx 12oz) is the recommended minimum from 1 year but that figure includes milk in cereal, in foods, in cooking and any other dairy products so doesnt all have to be in drink form.

You don't have to give them milk at all; it's just a handy way of getting certain nutrients into them. Ds refused all milk from about 11 months and I was just advised to try to ensure he got a varied diet including lots of calcium (sources like sardines have loads in). He's 19 months now and still doesn't drink any milk except for a dash on cereal at breakfast time, but he's in rude health.

Thanks for the information. It looks like she's getting enough with the amount I've cut down to - I'll just wait to see if her teatime appetite picks up!
