My little one is 10 months now, we introduced solids at 6 months but he won’t have anything that’s not completely puréed unless it’s a baby wafer, rusk or Ella’s kitchen puff. He’ll occasionally have toast but he doesn’t like anything that’s not sweet (will point blank refuse to eat it) and anything that’s slightly lumpier than purée (he’ll spit it out and again point blank refuse to eat it after one spoon). He’s still having 4/5 bottles a day as I’m conscious if I drop any he’ll be hungry but all he likes to eat really is fruit pouches and I feel like that doesn’t fill him. Any advice please? Am I better dropping some bottles in the day so he’s actually hungry in the hope he’ll eat more? He never cries due to hunger so I know currently he’s being fed well enough from formula but now he’s at nursery I really want him to be eating more as I know they try give him 3 meals a day. He’s only in the past few days started to get two of his teeth through (which aren’t even half through) so I thought it was due to that but now I’m unsure. Any help would be appreciated!

Have a look at Solid Starts, they have loads of info on their website and Instagram that is so helpful. They have some example suggested routines to help with the milk issue too.

Could you maybe first off try reducing the amount of milk in the bottles and making sure there's a good gap between that and the solid food? He might be a bit more motivated if he comes to the table hungry?

Does he have Tongue Tie @tashh? My first had TT and could only manage smooth purées until he was about one.

At 10 months though he only needs 13.5 Floz of formula a day. If he's having more than that, he's got no incentive to eat. I'd try dropping the first bottle this week and offering some breakfast instead. Something like weetabix or ready brek with chopped banana, porridge fingers, blueberry pancakes or even cheese on toast with some halved cherry tomatoes on the side.

Don't stress if he doesn't eat it. You job is to provide a meal, but it's up to him if he eats it or not. If you're worried about him not eating it, you could offer a small cup of formula with his breakfast.

In a couple of weeks I'd drop another bottle.
