what are baby grade vegetables?

did Annable karmel invent them?

Habbibu · 06/03/2008 14:10

Have never heard of baby grade vegetables. I suspect it is a load of marketing nonsense.

BoysOnToast · 06/03/2008 14:10

they are smaller.

BoysOnToast · 06/03/2008 14:11

assume you mean 'baby sweetcorn' and 'baby carrots' etc.

they re just veg, gm to bve smaller. thats it really.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 06/03/2008 14:11

Yes, I'd never heard of them until I started getting my organic veg delivered. You can order a bag of 'baby grade' veg for weaning. I'm sure I've seen it mentioned some else.

you know, i wonder sometimes if my appaling typoing makes my posts at all decipherable

BoysOnToast · 06/03/2008 14:13

eh? really?

oh , i didnt realise. never heard of baby grade veg

sounds like bolleaux to me

Habbibu · 06/03/2008 14:14

Agree, sounds like nonsense. Ask your box scheme people exactly what's so terrible about their usual veg that you shouldn't feed them to your children...

doggiesayswoof · 06/03/2008 14:14

If this is true, then agree it is bolleaux. Never heard of it.

Lulumama · 06/03/2008 14:15

i thikn that you will be fine with normal veg

organic if you get it anyway

i like little veg, those baby courgettes are very cute !

Kathyis6incheshigh · 06/03/2008 14:16

I've heard of organic box schemes that do a 'baby box' with veg babies like, like squash and root veg, but I didn't think it was actually a different quality.
Calling it 'baby grade' sounds to me very like a cunning scheme to get people to pay more

doggiesayswoof · 06/03/2008 14:17

here

lolol

Baby veg - different story altogether. Cute AND delicious. Baby cauliflowers and aubergines are my fave.

Ineedacleaner · 06/03/2008 14:17

cow&gate started it

Just a marketing tool really to get you to spend more money.

doggiesayswoof · 06/03/2008 14:18

They are "grown specifically for babies"

PMSL.

Ineedacleaner · 06/03/2008 14:18

Lol snap doggie

doggiesayswoof · 06/03/2008 14:18

I was so not surprised when Cow & Gate came up.

BoysOnToast · 06/03/2008 14:20

whatapileashite

Lulumama · 06/03/2008 14:20

cow and gate

bringers of night time milk made with mashed potato so you ccan definitely rely on them to give you the truth about feeding babies!!

bit of organic steamed carrot on teh highchair tray and take it from there

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 06/03/2008 14:22

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, tut tut

Twas wondering if there were babies digging and planting

I've been making DD her own food, she seems perfectly happy with non 'baby grade' veg!

OP posts:
flowerybeanbag · 06/03/2008 14:22

Blimey so I should be making sure the bark on trees near where DS's carrots are grown has been tested?

[bad mother]

NorthernLurker · 06/03/2008 14:22

total testicles I agree

Ineedacleaner · 06/03/2008 14:23

LL don't get me started on the Night Time Milk I read about this in the Morisons leaflet aarrrggghh! I was going to write and complain.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 06/03/2008 14:25

another question.... why is cow & gate/aptamil formula more expensive than farleys?

OP posts:
terramum · 06/03/2008 14:54

I note their website doesn't seem to mention organic in their blustering about how lovely their ingredients are......no artificial crap...but pesticides are fine

jellybelly2007 · 06/03/2008 18:22

whats this night time milk? never heard of it.
