Best yogurt for babies?

Just tried to feed my DTs some yogurt and mango for brekkie and they looked totally repulsed by it. I tried Rachel's organic greek style yogurt but think it might be a bit too sour/tart for them. Does anyone have any recommendations for a natural yogurt that they might like a bit better?

On the plus side, they happily munched pieces of ripe pear! Their first finger food!

try rachels organic baby yogurt. My DS loves it. I too gave him rachels greek and he refused to eat it. If I remember correctly the Rachels baby yogs are the only ones where the 2nd ingredient is not sugar!

Thanks, I'll try that. Just seen there are a few other threads on this so probably should have done a search first - oops!

Sainsburys baby yogurts used to be sugar-free too (sweetened with grape juice iirc) but now they've 'improved' it and added ruddy sugar to it! It's a shame as I prefered it to the Rachel's Organic one which is a bit runnier but since the 'improvement' I shall have to stick to the RO ones.

Total greek yoghurt (full fat) is like cream, The own brand Greek style yoghurts (Tesco and sainsbury's anyway) are much cheaper and pretty creamy too, but the rachels one tastes more like bio yoghurt. We eat lots of yoghurt here!

economy 35p for a hugh pot supermarket own brand yogurt and put a little honey in to sweeten if you feel it is sour. I used to get the frozen winter fruits and add aswell - these really are sour but my baby used to love them with yogurt.

Thanks for your advice...will try RO/Sainsbury's and own brand greek you. IvyKaty - my DTs are only 27 weeks so not suitable to add honey yet I'm afraid! Shame, as I'm sure they'd love it!

Add a bit of mashed banana to any natural yoghurt as a base - will sweeten it enough, and then add any other fruit you have to hand (or just the banana will do).

Yeo Valley natural full fat yoghurt all the way - it's thick, creamy and smooth - my DS loves it with raisins and a teaspoon of honey stirred in now (24mo), but loved it with any fruit puree when he was little. It's not at all sour.

orangina · 03/03/2008 16:33

do the rachels organic but add a bit of fruit puree to it (either home made or the hipp/organix pots, no added sugars etc). Would avoid doing the petit filou thing as they are so sweet.....
the ordinary greek yoghurts are thicker and less "sour", not organic, but a bit more palatable....

ivykaty44 · 03/03/2008 19:23

Must get my crystal ball serviced more regular tis playing up again

Indith · 03/03/2008 19:32

Fio ds is a petit filous boy too

The amount of yoghurts he gets through no way am I paying the small fortune they charge for Little Stoney or Rachels baby packs!

(I buy posh yoghurts for myself though, does that redeem me a little?)
