Feeding advice for 10 month

Hi
My 10 month old has suddenly reduced formula milk from 600/650ml a day to about 500ml now, which is also quite a struggle. However, solid food intake hasn’t gone up.
She barely eats some porridge with mashed banana for breakfast, yogurt / cheese and some fruits for lunch and that’s pretty much it! No vegetables, rice, pulses etc. (we are vegetarians). Just spits out anything that isn’t mashed / blended well. Any finger food simply ends up on the floor from the high chair.
She also never puts toys or anything in her mouth. And very reluctant to drink water too.

Obviously am very worried about whether she’s getting all nutrition she needs and confused why milk feed keeps dropping without any subsequent increase in solids. She’s active and weight gain is okay.

Anyone else faced similar issues? Would be very grateful for any advice or guidance.

Thanks a lot

It’s common to have periods like this that feel like a regression. It might be worth bringing her red book to your local clinic for a weigh in to check her weight isn’t tailing off. But feeding usually goes in fits and starts. Hopefully she’ll have a growth spurt and will be hungrier soon.

If you can get her to eat some avocado that might help as it’s very calorific.

I wouldn't worry personally, it's best to look at what they eat over a week as some days they'll eat more than others.

Between 10 and 12 months they only need 400 ml of formula so I'd try cutting her down to that to see if her appetite improves and try her with some activities that increase appetite like swimming or playgroup.

Weight gain naturally levels off at this age, so get a full set of measurements of your baby by a qualified professional before becoming worried. Some babies are delayed in the putting things in their mouth stage, and this is probably why your baby is not too keen on food. Bringing babies to family meals at the table and allowing self-feeding/ playing with food is a good way to develop skills. Drinking less milk is part of the process of developing an interest in solid food. Some babies dislike certain textures, for example sloppy food, and do better with drier finger foods.

Have you tried some eggs for protein? Boiled eggs or egg muffins are quite easy to eat. Mine also likes veggie tots (mashed carrot and sweat potato with cheese and breadcrumbs baked into finger food). She also loves mozzarella cheese.

Thank you @SiouxsieSiouxStiletto

Some websites are saying that even at this age they need at least 24oz/ 720ml … so I was not sure what is the recommended amount as there’s contradictory information online.

I guess 400ml works for those who are good eaters with 3 meals, 2 snacks etc perhaps?

Any finger food only ends up on the floor to be honest! 😌
