She is on 3 very small meals a day, most of the time she only has about half a cube at each meal and I really can't get her to eat any more. She is still on 5 milk feeds, which includes a dreamfeed at 10pm and we'd really like to drop that that but there is no way if she is not eating very much, is there?

She has always been hard work (I have previously posted about her being a miserable baby!) and I just find mealtimes stressful though I know I should just relax. I have tried offering her things (pear, toast, ricecake, carrot, cucumber, broccoli) to pick up and eat herself but she is really not interested in it and I wouldn't say she is eating it.

Do you think I should change any of these timings,
7-7.30 - milk
8 - Breakfast (normally porridge or ready brek with fruit)
11 - milk
11.45 or 12.15 depending if I have to pick dd1 from nursery - lunch (chicken/fish/lentisl with potato and veg)
2.30 - milk
5 - dinner
6.30 - milk
10 - milk

I have tried fruit and veg, chicken, lentils, fish. I have tried pasta, rice and yogurt once. Wanted to go slow on dairy as I think she might be a bit cows milk intolorent. She does really like avocado and banana but I can't give that all the time.

Can anyone recommend some easy recipes to try. I have a dd1 who was great with food so I just want to try and get it right with dd2 too.

Thanks for reading on a Friday night!

You could try giving her breakfast before milk and the same at lunchtime? It is early days - don't sweat! In a month or two, she will be the human hoover! When ds was that age, he got pretty much what your lo is getting. Try mixing different combinations together or wiht some mashed tatties too.

sounds exactly like the routine (i.e. timings) I had with ds except his 5th feed was in the middle of the night as we didnt do a dream feed. He gave the night feed up at 8 months when his solids intake started to increase a bit although from 6 months I started reducing it to encourage him to drop it. You could try getting rid of the dreamfeed by gradually reducing the amount you offer by 1 oz every few days - your lo should (in theory!) make up the loss during the day.

have you tried baby led weaning

Lots of recipe ideas on Aitch's blog

oh, i see you've trieed finger foods

try not to get too hung up on it; if it becomes a battle ground you will just both get stressed out, and remember milk is the most important source of nutrition for babies up to 12 months old.

My Dd didn't really take off with food till she was well past seven months, and at 8.5 months now she is still a bit picky when it comes to breakfast.

it's ok , she's only 7 months old. all she need sto be doing is playing about with food and drinking lots of milk. lots of babies don't get into eating until nearer 9 or 10 months, some even nearer a year. they don't all get into walking at the same time so why would they for eating?
