Am I adding too many calories?

DS is 6.5 months, have been weaning for about three weeks now. He has some finger food - fruit, veg, toast, cheese, rice cakes etc- and some spoon food.

The spoon food tends to be stuff like Greek yoghurt with mashed banana for breakfast, and today I gave him some mashed sweet potato with a little bit of cream cheese - but then worried that I was maybe giving too much fatty stuff. He is mix fed and has 3 bottles and two breast feeds a day.

Does this sound OK?

I think fatty stuff is good for babies especially greek yoghurt and cheese - sounds like you are giving him lots of fruit and veg too which has to be good - don't panic

good fats in dairy etc are necessary to help brain development etc. The bad or hydrogenated fats in biscuits, pastries etc are the ones to be avoided.

Yeah, I think because they eat such relatively small amounts you need to optimise the nutrients and they need lots of "good" fats.

Thank you all, just a little mummy-brain panic there.

A finger food meal is usually some steamed carrot sticks, a toast finger, a piece of kiwi fruit and a chunk of cheese - and have noticed that he makes a beeline for the bread and cheese - like his mum . But you're right of course, it's all good food.
