BBC News Not quite sure what the point of this is, apart from a shameless plug, but hey, its good to get a chance to mention that you don't have to puree things !

Definitely a shameless plug, the BBC censored some of the comment I posted.(see Rachel, Chelmsford)

I wrote
..The baby feeding industry and AK has a vested interest in fuelling parents' anxieties..

The comment about AK was removed.

Perhaps they interpreted this as a personal attack on her integrity. I also put at the end

..google Baby Led Weaning for more information...

which was removed as well. I can't think of any reason why this last comment should have been censored.

No - my comment hasn't even got posted yet.

I had a friend who spent so much time making AK food for her baby that she and DH had to have takeaway as she didn't want to cook anymore.
And at 2.3, her daugher won't bite any food and is very unadventurous. Ds at 20 months will eat, literally, anything. Which has its downsides as he won't be fobbed off with the childrens menu.

Well, I've just posted a pro- BLW comment. Let's see, shall we?

ruddynorah · 13/02/2008 20:16

i've posted too. i quoted the 'choking on a lychee stone' thing...it'll never be approved.

I haven't seen this one and won't look as I should be working, but I was very over her bit in the Observer food book that was out over the weekend - a number of things in there stated as fact when the scientists are still investigating.

I've added a pro-blw comment but as some earlier ones were removed I have tried to word it carefully, I have mentioned BLW and Aitch's site but last so it doesn't look like a big push!

this is what I wrote (if it appears)
"Following a book like this or the Gina Ford one is all well and good but why bother pureeing! If you follow the WHO guidelines and do not wean till 6months you can skip puree's and go straight to finger foods (Baby Led Weaning is te proper term). I've been BLW my DD for 2 months now and she happily eats what we eat (makes you careful what you eat as you don't want them to eat badly) so its overall a healthier approach for all the family. Our DD often gets our left overs and some great snacks that are easy to make and salt free. Its great when you can eat out with friends and just give dd bits of your food, while other mums sit feeding their 9 or 10months old with a spoon. My DD enjoys everything we put in front of her and really enjoys food there are no spoon battles as she feeds what she wants when she wants it! There is loads of information on BLW available if you look and mumsnet.com or babycentre.com or babyledweaning.co.uk."

My mum sent my Dad into the supermarket to buy some AK ready meals for DS2. Only, my Mum gave him the wrong name. When he complained that they didn't sell any "Lucy Kestrel" baby food she said he'd "probably asked the wrong person for help." When I asked why the hell she'd told him the name was Lucy Kestrel she said "I think it's the sloaniest name I could come up with". Welcome to my world ladies.

AitchTwoOh · 13/02/2008 20:55

hah, i've posted too, doubt very much that it will go in. bloody BBC, they really are so behind the times.

AitchTwoOh · 13/02/2008 20:56

lol at sloaniest name, cis.

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2008 21:01

glad one of the comments picked up on the honey dressing - does AK really have a recipe for that?
