Hi! I’m starting to wean LO and wondering if anyone could recommend useful items? Such as bowls/tupperware etc, particularly items that are useful for on the go?

So far I have weaning spoons, dipping spoons, 2 x Bibado. Trying to avoid buying lots of gimmicks I don’t need!

I think that will be enough. If you are going to do purées then a cheap hand blender will help. We used a Sainsbury's basics one which we already had, it lasted 18 years before it eventually died Wink

Perhaps some little tubs with lids for when you are out and about. Useful for purées or halved grapes/cherry tomatoes.

With number three I don't think we really bought much at all. All his food was just put onto his tray for him to play with. We did have some plastic cutlery given to him and probably had a plastic bowl.
Most of it will end up on the floor anyway!

Spoons, metal teaspoons are fine but I preferred plastic at first just in case I’d heated the food too much; bib, the all in one ones are great but would also get pelican bibs so LO can pick stuff out of it if/when you do finger foods; Highchair; bowl (I went with plastic again for the same reasons). I think that’s it.

I didn't buy anything for the first few months. IKEA antelop high chair with the little inflatable cushion until he filled out a bit and could fit the seat better. Bibs, of course. But in the early days I'd just strip him to his nappy for meals at home. Easier that way.

No bowls or cutlery for a while. Just put food on the high chair tray and let him play about with it and eat with his fingers. Introduced spoons at about 9 or ten months. Then around one or so got some plates, bowls, and little cutlery set.

Highly recommend the ezpz cup. I used to just fill it a quarter full each time and build up from there.

Have fun!
