BPA free (ie polypropylene) Storage Pots

I am in the process of weaning DD and want to find BPA free storage pots for her purees. Following the recent hype about BPA's regardless of how little the amounts are that are released I would rather she had as little exposure to the "gender bending" chemicals as possible. We use Baby Born Free bottles and now need something similar but in the form of pots that can go in the microwave to heat up purees / food. CAn any one suggest any makes / manufacturers?

Have you seen babypotz? They are BPA Free fab weaning pots - www.babypotz.com - they come in lots of different sizes. The mixed set is great for starting off - 10 of each size.

I think a lot of normal tupperware is BPA free anyway because that kind of plastic isn't used for them. There was a huge thread on here a few weeks back about it that listed safe bottles but came to the conclusion that pots/bottles that aren't totally clear and hard like glass are ok. By the way its polycarbonate plastic not polypropylene that has BPA. The symbol for this is a triangle with 7 in it, the symbol for polypropylene is a triangle with 5 in it.

There is information on sites like Wikipedia about BPAs and some more if you google it.

The other alternative if you want to go entirely plastic free is to go to a cooking store and buy a whole load of small glass jars of about the same size as those you would buy baby food in. They are easily available as people who make Jam or pot honey buy pretty small jars often.

There is a useful article here.

The blue clouded disposable avent pots -avent via range-are free of BPA its just their normal bottles that are polycarbonate.

i dont think you can freeze glass jars? the babypotz are made from polypropylene and they can be microwaved too. the reason i find them so handy is that you cannot get tuppaware small enough for the first few months of weaning for individual portions. they start off in ice cube size and have lids so no freezer burn either.

here's the babypotz site www.babypotz.com for your info.

I bought some polypropylene tupperware from tesco a while ago they are about 2 ice cube equivalent with removeable lids. There are a few places you can get them but you have to look. I have frozen glass without problem, I tend to freeze casseroles but they can be a bit slippery on the outside when you take them out of the freezer oh and leave room for expansion of the food at the top.

They also sell something similar to the tesco tupperware in woolworths which are flatter. They are usually a pack of a few for a couple of pounds. My tesco ones were about 6 for 99p.
