Nearly 10 month old weaning advice

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get some advice on weaning if that’s ok - not sure if I just need to be patient or should try something different.

My LO is 10 months next Tuesday, and I do struggle with weaning at the moment. Breakfast is typically porridge or weetabix with fruit, which she devours, but when it comes to lunch and dinner, it can be a different story.

I am trying to give her finger foods more now (alongside some mashed foods) - but she typically tends to pick up the food, sometimes takes a couple of bites then either plays around with it or throws it on the floor. When I feed her, she tends to eat more, but with her age i’m just trying to encourage self-feeding. Some things she will even flat out refuse to eat (like eggs, she just spits it out) - and I just want to ensure she is eating enough throughout the day. She has three 210ml milk bottles during the day also. Lunch and dinner can be anything from sandwiches, fruit, chicken with some rice e.t.c - I am trying to give her what we eat essentially.

Is this normal for a nearly 10 month old, and do you think it’s just a case of being patient? Just to add she has four teeth now as well at the front (two at the top, two at the bottom). I genuinely do not want a fussy eater, and for some reason I am worried this may be the case eventually. Any advice is much appreciated - thanks in advance

Just keep giving her it she will get there. My son has porridge for breakfast. Greek yogurt with fruit for lunch and a puree for tea with lots of snacks in between. He's 10 months. Some of it goes in his gob but some goes on the floor. Just keep doing what you're doing 😊

Thank you so much, this is really reassuring :)

Once she's 10 months she only needs 400 ml of formula a day so I'd say it was time to drop a bottle Wink
