Reheating surplus quantities... sorry being paranoid

Can I ask a really stupid question...

When I am making food for DS, I tend to make more than the amount needed for one baby meal (he is only 7 months).

When its a meal with a bit of meat in it, say Chicken casserole or chicken and tomato or baby spag bol or whatever...

What is the protocol for storing and reheating? Can I cook and then put in fridge and then reheat? how long do people leave their surplus in the fridge for?

I am just very confused by the baby cook books.

Thanks in advance!

I would leave the surplus for up to a couple of days in the fridge for thorough reheating. If it's likely to be longer than that, I'll put it in the freezer. I used to make enough for 3 or 4 meals and freeze them.

Thanks. DH was being very scary and saying things like.. you are not supposed to reheat meat and therefore I couldn't use any surplus. But I was thinking surely this couldn't be right!

I know you can't cook, reheat and then reheat it again if LO doesn't finish, but became totally confused as to what to do about newly cooked food!

AK's book that gives recipes that you cant freeze to make with "cooked chicken" wasn't helping my understanding either as I generally don't make chicken on its own prior to cooking a dish. But anyway...

Thanks - I will try not to worry so much about the stuff I put in the fridge!

Of course you can reheat meat! Just the once, like you said. As long as it's reheated thoroughly there's no problem at all - but you know this already.
