I know that the point of BLW is that the baby is self-regulating her intake, however, is my dd eating enough?

She is 8 months old.
breakfast - porridge (about 2 tbsp oats before cooking)made with coconut cream and cinnamon + 2 or three pieces of fruit or 1/3 banana

lunch - avocado mashed with olive oil as a thick spread on one piece of toast + two or 3 pieces of toast

tea - meatball, 5 pasta spirals, 2 chip sized pieces of copurgette, 2 or 3 pieces of fruit

She is still bf and normally has 4-5 milk feeds daily + 1 or 2 overnight. I feed her milk before meals, about an hour or so before.

I worry because she has been a skinny baby and still doesn't seem to be putting on much weight. All of my friends' babies (don't compare I know!) are all 20 pound wonders while dd has yet to break the 15 pound barrier!

is she eating enough? I can't give dairy or egg as it plays merry hell with her eczema sorry if disjointed am typing with one hand.
please help, thx

Hi - that sounds really good to me. If she is happy between meals then sounds like it is perfect

DS2 who is 8 months has a mix of finger food and puree but would guess he eats about the same amount but is 24lbs! I think some babies are naturally thiner and some fatter as are adults. If she is happy I would go with it.

if her height and weight are in proportion and she isn't screaming with hunger then you're doing fine. Very similiar amounts to my 7mo who is much bigger than your DD.

So hard not to compare your baby to everyone elses isn't it. Just keep reminding yourself you're setting her up with good eating habits for life and that matters far more than getting her to pile on the pounds now.

chibi I've been wondering the same with my ds2 who is flippin enormous at 8mths. He has roughly the same as yours, eats a big breakfast, milk about an hour before lunch, lunch is quite random, can consist of a cracker with cream cheese, half a mango and a small yoghurt or a couple of bits of pasta, a couple of bits of carrot and a chew on a piece of beef or chicken, milk mid pm then supper of something similar to lunch, then milk before bed. Often not a lot seems to go down (apart from the yog) and I do wonder if he is getting enough. He does seem happy enough though and thoroughly enjoys feeding himself. So I try to tell myself not to worry, let him go at his own pace...but its not easy is it?
