Everything seems to getting a bit confusing in this whole weaning process. Ds feeds at about 7am, 10am 11.30 or 12, 2pm, 4.30 or 5pm and 7pm so where am i supposed to fit in the solids feeds, I have been doing them after milk feed but then he is quite full so I have now tried leaving it a hour and then offering solids and he is really keen on them then but then it is only an hour or so until the next feed - It all seems a bit conusing and seems like I am feeding every hour for the last couple of days!! Also he never wants water when I offer it to him....any guidance please!

just give him food to play with when you eat. best not to give food when they're actually very hungry, that's what milk's for. how old is he? lots of books and weaning experts just over complicate things to sell their books, make it look like you need help, a planner, and some snazzy weaning aids.

the water will come in time, keep offering. I started weaning dd at about 6mo, and she would swing her cup around like a Viking until quite recently. She drinks quite happily now. If you baby is bf I don't think you need to get too worried about water anyway. hth

DS was bf and had milk pretty much ALL the time and didn't really get going on food until 9-10 months or so. He would have tastes of things, but not eat a huge amount. Same with the water, he would enjoy playing with his sippy cup and maybe take a tiny bit, but not much.

Weaning is a process of introducing tastes and textures, not an overnight thing

thanks - ds is 6 months old and needs to move onto solids as he has bad reflux and the heavier solids are easier for him to keep down rather the just my milk which he brings up a lot ( paediatrician advice was to get a move on with solids!)I am still bf and he has one formula feed but what with regular bf and his naps we have hardly any time to eat solids!! glad to hear about your lo's getting the hang of water - i'll keep preserving with it
