Is it normal for a 17 mth old to only eat sandwiches??

It seems thats all my DD will eat. She is a good eater, and will eat a sandwich very well (cheese, ham, peanut butter), along with cherry tomatoes. But if I try to serve anything resembling a proper meal she pushes it away. I have tried to not give in and offer a sandwich if this happens but I can;t see her go hungry!!!

I just feel like I'm throwing good food away all the time. She snacks well during the day on fruit, but I just wish she'd eat a more varie diet.

I have tried giving her our food while we eat but she won't touch it (well she'll eat the brocoli if its there ).

Any ideas/tips/similar experiances??

err, I admit to having put a squashed meatball in a sandwich ... dd would not eat it otherwise. It worked.

DD will only really eat pasta reliably so thats what she gets for dinner every evening with different sauces. As long as you vary the fillings (include some read meat for iron and oily fish for the omegas) and make sure you sneak some veg inside the sandwich or alongside DD will be fine. I try and vary lunch even if she doesn't each much. I recommend sticking for sandwiches for dinner and being more adventurous at lunchtime. I would love my DD to eat sandwiches for lunch thats next weeks mission!

Also do you eat with her and eat the same as her - that has really helped my DD.
