I love fish and ds seems to be a fan too. I want to give him prawns and marlin but I'm a bit worried he's too young coz of the mercury or lead in the fish. I seem to remember that the higher up the food chain a fish is the higher the level of some kind of metal? or have I just made up some completely random fact? In which case, ignore me and I'll go back to sleep.

your lo should be able to eat cooked prawns but I would avoid giving marlin. This is from the food standards agency website:

Don't give any fish or shellfish to babies younger than six months because there is a chance they might have an allergic reaction.

Children should avoid eating any shark, swordfish or marlin. This is because the levels of mercury in these fish can affect the development of children's growing nervous systems.

You might also want to avoid giving raw shellfish to babies and children to reduce their risk of getting food poisoning.
