Healthy Fat sources

My DS is 7 months and enjoying his weaning so far. I'm trying to just keep things varied and as fresh as I can.

I am looking for some full fat cheese, yoghurt etc options. I know you can buy full fat yoghurt but I don't want a massive container of it as I'm trying to lose a bit of weight so any excess will go to waste. I'm also concerned about hygiene for open packets of things like cream cheese.

I suppose my question is: what types of dairy are you feeding your littl'uns?

None! They were allergic but full fat greek yoghurt lasts 5 days when open and I think cream cheese is similar (check the packet).

Dairy can last for ages if kept properly. Full fat cream cheese usually has really long dates on it, and you can buy small and medium pots of full fat yoghurt. Really with dairy you need to sniff it and look out for mould - if it smells fine and has no mould, it's fine to eat.

Hard cheese likewise lasts for ages.

Feta and mozzarella less so and usually need eating within 24/48 hours of opening.

Ripe avocado, cooked salmon, olives are all good.

Yeo valley do individual serving size pots of natural full fat yogurt- obviously individual for an adult so may be a couple of servings for a baby

Peanut butter is a good source of protein and fat, and will last for ages. You can get the kind that doesn’t contain palm oil/salt/sugar.

You can get individual pots of Greek yogurt and Yeo Valley do a multipack of four.

Thanks everyone.

I take the common sense approach when it's food for me (if it looks ok and smells ok, it's probably ok) but just wanted to be careful with DS.

I'll defo look out for the yeo valley pots and have a go with some cheese

Avocado on toast is another good source of healthy fats.

As for you, I think there's some research that says it's easier to lose weight if you have the full fat version? Something to do with feeling fuller for longer?
