Reducing Bottles

My son is 6.5 m and has been on solids for 2 months (we weaned early due to a cow's milk allergy). He does 3 meals and a few snacks, it isn't a large amount as he is still on soft mushy stuff but we do feed until he is full. He has not altered his amount of formula. He is on about 9 bottles a day of about 4-5 oz (basically every 2 1/2 to 3 hours including nighttime). Every once in awhile he'll feed to 6-7 oz but that doesn't really change his pattern much. We are not on a feeding schedule, we feed on demand although we do solids after his naps. My son is on a hypoallergenic formula which I know is digested easier and so he would feed more often. I would really like to reduce the number of bottles he feeds on each day. I have read a few different ways to do it but I am concerned about doing it or not. My husband said to just wait and it will work itself out eventually but I would like to try to be on a better "schedule" for when I go back to work which could be soon as I am currently looking for a job. Any thoughts/advice?

What is his weight doing? Generally they're still reliant on formula for their calories at this age. If his weight is fine I'd just let it work itself out

His weight is good. Still tracking in the 98th percentile for weight and height.

Are you seeing a Paediatric Dietitian @SSHunt? If they have CMPA the referral should have been made by the GP.

Yes. We are under the care of a dietitian and a pediatrician. Neither have been helpful in regards to this. I feel like they just blow me off saying that I should no worry about how much he's drinking or eating just that he is putting on weight and making wet nappies.
