Baby Spoons -v- Teaspoons?

I'm so confused, which is not hard!
I started weaning my baby circa three weeks ago - she is six months old and I was told by the Health Visitor to give her three meals a day.
I've been giving her baby rice, pureed veg and pureed fruit.
So, what I really want to know is:

  1. How many spoons per feed?
  2. Is it tiny plastic baby spoons or teaspoons?
  3. How much water should she be drinking when she is having her solids?

I would:

  1. give however many (or few) she seems to want
  2. use either, although plastic spoons may be more acceptable to her if she is teething
  3. if she is breastfed, then I don't think she needs water. If not, then if you offer water I imagine she will take what she needs.

Sorry not to be of more help, am no expert but didn't want your post to go unanswered.
You may also like to read up on "baby led weaning" which is an alternative to the spoons/puree thing (you let baby feed herself) and so might help remove any worry about "how many spoons" etc. There are lots of posts about it on MN.

Thank you for your answer - I'm going to look at 'baby led weaning'.
