LO is on aptamil pepti 1 and doc has advised to avoid all dairy until they've established ifbhe has CMPA or something else. Can i use vegan cheeses as a substitute when cooking and what milk is best to use instead of cows milk? If making porridge for breakfast, i will use some of his formula but wanting to make porridge fingers that will keep for a few days and don't know if I can still use formula for that due to the 1/2 hour rule?

We use either coconut, soya or oat milks. Some work better than others for different things (ie coconut is nice in porridge)

I wouldn't use vegan substitutes like cheese, they have some weird ingredients in them and don't taste great. For porridge fingers, could you use apple juice or just water?

@Raindancer411 do you think the coconut milk would be ok for porridge fingers? Our doctor is very much against BLW so when I asked for advice/suggestions I was told to give him dairy free purees and pouches 🙄

Ohh really?! Suppose I can just make the recipes without cheese then.

We use oat milk for dd2 and have done since she was weaning

LR51021 · 05/04/2022 13:53

@Findahouse21 does it work ok with cooking etc? Do you use any cheese alternatives?

I found any of the milks work well for cooking. Just if you use oat, it can make things thicker. I cannot see why it wouldn't work :)
