We started weaning our DS at 6 months old things have been going well with weaning, he has breakfast and tea. We first started following the ellas kitchen 1 veg a day thing for 2 weeks and he now for breakfast has been having porridge, toast, mashed banana and ellas kitchen fruit pouches. For tea he has been having a heinz jar of baby food and fruit or yogurt for after. Now he is 7 months old I want to try different things and I don't know where to start!
What sort of things did you offer your baby for breakfast at 7 months?
Ideas for toppings on the toast?
I also want to start introducing allergen foods... any ideas on how to do this?
I also have alot of the pureed veg from before (as I batch cooked it) in the freezer any ideas of how to use this up?
I know I probably sound stupid in this post haha, this is all new to me.

TIA x

For breakfast mine had porridge or porridge fingers, toast, omelette, scrambled eggs, muffins, crumpets, Greek yoghurt, fruit.

For toast you could do peanut butter (or another nut butter), cream cheese or hummus?

Allergens I just introduced one at a time and in isolation early on and then kept using them once I knew it was safe. So for egg I just gave him a boiled egg, then prawns and bits of salmon or trout for fish and shellfish. I'm assuming if you already give porridge you already know cow's milk is okay? I often mix ground hazelnut, ground almond or Sunflower seeds into porridge, mainly for texture and flavour but this also rules out other nut and seed allergies.

@WhiteHorse92 thank you for your reply.
With the omelette did you add anything like cheese or leave it plain?
Yes I will try peanut butter and cream cheese on the toast!
With the boiled egg did you cut into quarters? And are they allowed the yolk?
The porridge I've been using (C&G) says to make it with water so not been making it with milk.

I usually add grated cheese to omelette and then anything else like mushrooms/peppers/Sweetcorn etc.

Boiled egg in quarters and yes the yolk is fine.

I've always just used regular porridge oats with cow's milk but it's a good way to rule out an allergy as the only ingredients are oats and milk.

Breakfast we always do the same thing. Weetabix and toast with marmite. If you want to do an allergen peanut butter on toast is a great snack or lunch.

If you have the Ella's Kitchen Purple book that has some good recipes for finger food. I loved the What Mummy Makes ones too, you can find lots of her recipes on her Instagram to see if you like her stuff!

@WhiteHorse92 ahh okay doke, would you cook the mushrooms and peppers before adding to omelette? Me and my DH aren't exactly ones for veggies but I really want to try for my DS, so I'm literally learning as I go along! 🙈

@Twizbe I'll definitely be trying the peanut butter on toast.

@KatieKat88 luckily my friend has given me the What Mummy Makes books so I will definitely have a look through that 🙂

On toast we did cream cheese and very very finely cut mushrooms and peppers (cut to the size of a small pea, chucked in frying pan until softened). Or simple jam, marmite, etc. Texture helps on toast and strips of bananas so shredded coconut works well. Little bit of peanut butter to start with, increase every few days.

You don't need to cook the peppers and mushrooms in an omelette, put it all in with the eggs. Boiled broccoli is great too, you can cut it into little trees and add to omelette. Add cheese or very finely shredded or chopped chicken too.

You could use the veg purees as sauces for pasta. Use a shape like twists so they can pick them up to feed themselves. You can mix cream cheese in too.

Thank you all for your advice and ideas. We have given him egg and peanut butter up to now been no reaction to those, so going go try others. With fish what would be the best to give him and how? (Would prefer to give him allergens for the first time in the mornings so can keep and eye on him)
Also When did you DC start to have 3 meals a day?

Salmon or sardines would be the best fish to start with, lower in mercury and high in Omega 3 fatty acids. My son loves sardines straight from the tin, I just rinse the fillets under the tap to remove as much sodium as possible
