Tea ideas for 1 year old

I'm after tea ideas for my 1 year old please!

Fine with breakfast, then lunch can be leftovers of our dinner from previous night (we eat quite late so can't all eat together).

But tea is a struggle! I currently do things like toast, crumpet, banana slices, etc. Tried sandwiches but he doesn't eat them!

Pita bread, cous cous, tuna, tomato, peas, mozzarella, rice noodles - not all together! These are our easy/no cook staples.

Yogurt

Whatever your making, give him. Easiest way.
Obv avoid chillies

Can they have left overs from your tea on the previous night? Things like gosh pie, spaghetti Bolognaise and beef stew seemed to work here.

There's some good suggestions in this guide from the Caroline Walker Trust Smile

Have a look at my lovely little lunchbox.

What is “tea”? Is it supper or a snack?

Bagel and smooth peanut butter, pita bread slices and blitzed chickpea dip, cooked carrot sticks, pasta, yoghurt and fruit are snacks or small meals you could try.

Tea is your evening meal. Dinner is the one that you have in the middle of the day. That's why we all the staff who serve it at school "Dinner Ladies" Smile

Thanks all there's some great ideas here!

Lunch I do as leftovers from our dinner the night before.

Tea is a smaller meal - e.g. sandwich, etc. just after variety.

I batch cook and stick in the freezer for 1yo DS’ tea if he’s not having the same as us.

Puff pastry scrolls - savoury or sweet
Sheet pancakes
Mini fish cakes
Scones or muffins - again, savoury or sweet

Half a sweet potato with hummus
Cheesy mash with beans and broccoli
Baked porridge fingers
Quesadillas
Mezze plate - falafel, cucumber sticks, hummus, pitta bread
Avo and mashed hard boiled egg on toast
Peanut butter French toast

Although tonight he only wanted weetabix.

If you want something small and low effort I'd do baked beans on toast or scrambled egg and toast.
Deconstructed sandwiches so you could have bread or a bagel with some cheese, ham, chicken or tuna.
Savoury pancakes.
Then just some fruit and veg on the side.
Yoghurt.
That's what I normally do for lunch (we have a larger meal together in the evening).

Our last dinners have been:

Baby sized pork burgers
Broccoli loaf
Sardine, tomato and spinach quesadilla
Lamb koftas
Baked chicken fingers
Spiced avocado patties
Salmon and avocado cheese toastie

And served these with a mixture of finger food fruit and veg

We now all eat together but when we were trying to feed DD a quick meal after nursery we did things like: pasta with sauce from the freezer (frozen in individual portions, can also cook a few days worth of pasta at once to save more time); hummus, pitta and veggies; if we had time to turn the oven on then some kind of puff pastry thing from the freezer (from What Mummy Makes book) or pizza on a wrap or pitta; cheese, toast and fruit (not in a sandwich, just slices for her to tackle separately)

BEE08 · 22/12/2021 18:51

We have, he is older now but had:
Puff pastry pin wheels
Beans on toast
Scrambled egg on toast
Tuna mayo pasta with sweetcorn
Toasted muffins/crumpets/toast
Wrap, cheese and ham
Crackers with cheese and ham

My ds liked dippy foods - dippy egg, breadsticks and tzatsiki or hummus or pea purée.
Fish fingers, chopped cucumber and cherry tomatoes worked too.
Little pieces of pizza, cold sausages, French toast.
Anything he could feed himself or throw Grin

Carrot flapjacks - they’re a bit of a faff to make but once you’ve made a batch you can freeze them.
Sausage rolls - recipe includes freezing instructions.
Sweetcorn muffins - again, can be frozen!
