Evening,

Sorry for long post. My lo is blw majority of the time, we use pouches if she's not eating what is offered to her, as when teething she preffered purees as I guess bit softer.

Anyway a typical day is-
730/745am porridge with fruit puree added. Cows milk - 30/40mls
845am - 8oz offered takes about 4oz to 6oz
930am - rest of bottle. How she likes it

1230pm - lunch usually slice of bread for a sandwich with filling anything basically. A frube occasionally, or custard, or some puff things or cheese chunks, cucumber. Basically anything.

130pm - 8 oz bottle again usually 4 to 6 oz rest before nap at 2/230pm

5/515pm dinner.
645pm 11oz offered usually takes about 9oz. I upped this as she was draining her 8oz.

Water offered throughout probably takes about 150mls during the day maybe bit less.

For last 3 days the 130pm bottle the most she takes is 5oz. Then for bedtime she's only taking 6oz....

I know the guidance of 20oz to take. My question is it sounds like she's trying to drop her lunch time one? What do you think?

I’d stop giving her pouches if she doesn’t eat her dinner. It’s a sure fire way to create a picky eater. Having formula is much more important than pouches. Solids at this age are much more about learning to eat and developing the right connections with the brain. Formula should be prioritised over purée.

Have a look at Solid Starts, they have really great resources.

Oh yes I agree. It was while she was teething and didn't eat dinner I offered pouches for few days🤷🏼‍♀️

Ok but if she eats what I offer I can't force her milk unless I cut back on the solids?

I have a look thanks

At 9 months old, breastmilk or formula is still the main source of nutrition. Solid food is more for learning the skills of chewing/swallowing and exploring different tastes and textures rather than consumption.

If she is teething, offering ribs/chicken drumstick/mango pit - basically anything hard and resistive she can really get to grips with would be more beneficial in the long run than resorting to pouches which are not as nutritionally balanced ml for ml as breastmilk or formula.

What time is she waking up? Could you start the day with milk, then have breakfast rather than the other way round? So it could look something like

7am - morning milk
8am - breakfast
10.30am - milk (after nap - I'm assuming she's on two?)
12.30pm - lunch
2pm - milk
5.30pm - dinner
7pm - milk before bed

That's a rough schedule of my DS at 9months

Is she just 9 months @Fancyties or is she nearly 10 months? Just asking as the aim is to give them 13.5 floz between 10 and 12 months, so yes, it might be tike to drop a bottle Smile

Corrected she be almost 10 months. She was overdue by almost 2 weeks.
been a few days since I posted this morning she takes 6 to 8oz.
Afternoon one - 4 to 6 oz. Usually been more like 5oz
Bedtime - 7 to 9oz.

She's never been a lover of her milk and always taken under the recommended - she was meant to take 1000ml a day but we could never get more then 800/900mls on a very good day

She much prefers her solids 😂 literally the little piggy eats me out of house and home if I give her the chance - if I have a snack I have to provide her with one or a taste or half of what I'm having 😂

With the pouches - to put in perspective in past 2 weeks she has had maybe 2/3 pouch.... I don't think having a pouch will be too much of a bother as long as she is getting something in her.... I know many babies my lo older then my lo on pouches all the time....

She won't have her milk before her food - she screams the house down. She wants her food first 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you @panicbuyingsprouts I think she is almost at that point, I wait until she decreases it a bit more before cutting.
