Any ideas gratefully received! Do I go easy and start with simple bland veggie sticks or dive right in?

What is the best time of day to start? Before or after a bf? Sorry if these sound like complete numpty questions!

why not just sit the baby on your knee and eat a DELICIOUS piece of fruit? what's about at the mo? a lovely ripe slice of melon, all juicy and falling to bits? or a banana or apricot or pear? then you can see if the baby fancies some. and i think we did things in the afternoon at first, largely because that was when i could be bothered. you'll find your own way, it'll be fine.

Bumper we can do this together, we're only on first steps here too.
So far we've done plum, pear, banana, potato, cucumber and rice cakes. Tried a rice cake with some of that apple and pear spread today, it's good as the spread kind of glues the rice cake to the baby's hand

Brill sputnik! Think we are going to start with pear. Did you peel it? Rice cakes with a spread sounds good. Did you make it yourself?

Peeled the pear but probably not necessary. The spread is just concentrated apple and pear juice, you can get it in health food shops.

i used to find that peel helped dd to hold onto things, and she just spat it out if she wasn't able to chew it. (aitch)
