Hi

Im looking for a bit of advice please first time mum.
My baby is 10 months , 11 months on 16th october.

I am still giving him 4 bottles a day...one when he wakes up , one at 11, one around 4 and one aroI d 7. He drinks maybe a couple of ounces of the bottles during the day and isnt interested at all. Is it ok to drop these now?
And then just do a morning and night one ?

He very quickly moved onto more textured food and has what we have spag bols cottage pies etc and also some blw when appropiate. Should be start to be feeding himself yet with the spoon?

Should I be giving him snacks? Some books say yes and some say not before 12 months so I am confused.

I feel were ready for a change and a bit of a new routine when it comes to food and bottles.

Thank you

You could replace a day bottle with a snack and drink of water. My dcs liked to stab food with a fork before they could use a spoon very well

DS started self feeding with a spoon from 9 mths but it’s because we introduced a spoon to him at 4 mths firstly as a toy and then a teether. As we all have always eaten together he soon figured it out. So I’d just plonk it next to his plate and let him have a go.

As for snacks I would say if he isn’t mobile (ie not crawling / walking), is eating properly, and not underweight then don’t bother introducing snacks. Kids don’t actually need them if they are being fed 3-4 meals a day. But that’s probably a controversial opinion Grin

I'd drop the first bottle now and just go straight to breakfast @rosiewalker.

At 10 & 11 months he only needs roughly 400 ml of formula a day, dropping to 300 ml of full fat cow's milk when he's 12 months.

Once you've got him used to having breakfast first thing, look at which bottle you want to drop next. I'd maybe go for the 4 pm one and leave the ones he has before a nap for now. Plus the 4 pm is easily swapped for a drink and small snack Smile

Our ds completely gave up milk at 10 months and refused to touch it and still hasn’t gone near it at 9. We just made sure he had plenty of calcium rich foods (not just dairy but fortified bread leafy greens etc) and gave him snacks in the day. He was and still is a great eater.
