If your baby was FF, how much formula were they having from 10ish months to a year?
Our last appt with the HV was at 8m and at the time he was taking about 28oz of formula a day (4x7oz bottles) as well as just moving onto 3 meals. He’s taken to weaning so well - eats like a horse 😅 yet to find a food he doesn’t like which is amazing. At that appointment the HV said she didn’t want him dropping much below that milk intake - he should be taking at least 22-25oz until he turns 1. Does that advice seem correct? 🤔
I know he needs vitamins if he drops below around 20oz per day. At the moment I feel like I’m having to force milk into him to meet her guideline.
I thought the guideline in the picture was more “normal” (well aware that all babies are different!). I can’t imagine being able to force 22-25oz into him for too much longer - he loves his morning and nighttime bottle but is fast losing interest in other feeds during the day!
Just for reference incase it’s relevant to her advice - big baby at birth, 6%drop in birthweight and regained within 10 days. Has remained 91st centile since.
Typical daily meals:
- Breakfast - scrambled egg, porridge, sugar free banana or blueberry pancakes etc
- Lunch - he loves a cold picnic style lunch - any combination of tomatoes, cucumber, grapes, avocado, crackers, breadsticks, pasta, hummus, raspberries, cheese, yoghurt. Or an omelette if he didn’t have eggs at breakfast. Quesadilla, cheese twists, veggie fritters.
- Dinner - depends what we’re having - spag bol, chicken curry, chicken pie, pasta dishes, fish with sweet pot and veggies, meatballs
