I watch a lot of videos with this title on YouTube, but they often seem so unrealistic, I'd love to hear what other anonymous children are eating/being offered too - I'm sure it'll be helpful to others too! I'd also be really interested in their age and if they have any milk etc. You don't have to do timings, I just did to help me remember!

I'll start; DS is 18mo and this is what he ate yesterday.

7.30am - breastmilk
8.30am - Weetabix with whole milk and flaxseeds, a pear
10am - Greek yoghurt with strawberry puree and sliced strawberries (ignored the sliced strawberries)
11.30am - shredded ham, plain tortilla wrap, slices of red pepper, green grapes, strips of cheese quesadilla (ignored the quesadilla and grapes)
12pm - breastmilk
3.30pm - organix oat bar and orange segments
5pm - slice of Emmental, whole apple (ate a bit then got frustrated so I peeled it)
6.45pm - broccoli cheese fritters, roasted carrots, chicken nuggets, plain Greek yoghurt.
8.30pm - Breastmilk

My little one is 21 months and had a breast feed first thing.
Then bottle of cows milk.
Then 1 1/2 slices of toast with butter.
1/2 green apple.
Then lots of watermelon
Then a long nap.
Then cherry tomatoes.
And KFC popcorn chicken and chips for dinner Confused
In my defence, he is not feeling well at the moment and was offered other things. And it was my older sons birthday so he got to choose dinner.
At least my little fella ate dinner after not having much appetite! Usually we have something healthier with plenty of veggies like Shepard’s pie. And usually for lunch he will have some pasta with sauce and cheese and some tomatoes and avocado on the side.

pregnantncnc · 23/08/2021 15:08

Sorry DS woke up from a nap as I was posting so I posted before I meant to. I wanted to also post what he had today, the day before our first food delivery in 10 days so cupboard are a bit sparse, for comparison:

  • Breastmilk
  • Pear with chia seeds and Greek yoghurt
  • Toast with salted butter
  • Breastmilk
  • Cheese quesadilla (actually ate it today) with slices of red pepper
  • Will be offered an oat bar or veggie straws or some kind of processed snack this afternoon, as well as an apple, we are also visiting my mum so he'll probably have some chocolate or a brioche or biscuits there.
  • Dinner will be a stir fry made with the last bits of sad veg/frozen peas, not sure if it'll be noodles or rice with it yet - not actually sure if we have either but fingers crossed, if not it'll be chips. Should probably defrost some fish or meat if we have some.

No need to defend yourself! My DS sometimes has days where his meals are all bread with the odd bit of fruit. Overall diet is the most important!! (and who doesn't love a bit of popcorn chicken?!?!)

DD is just over 2.5.

She's at nursery today but will be mac and cheese with some peas through it for dinner (trying to get her to eat anything exotic on a nursery day is a no-go as she's always knackered!). She had some porridge for breakfast.

Yesterday:

Toast and peanut butter. Cup of milk.
Breadstick and raisins.
Cherry tomatoes, cucumber, pepper slices, cheese and some chicken for lunch.
Apple slices with almond butter. Cup of milk.
Pulled chicken and black bean chilli with rice. Plain yoghurt with honey and blueberries.

Starjammer · 23/08/2021 15:16

Oh she also had an ice cream yesterday morning as we went for a trip to the farm park! I had one as well and very nice it was too!

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 23/08/2021 15:16

20mo DD on a non-nursery day will have:

8am - 2 weetabix with a cup of milk
10.30 - a banana and a slice of toast
1.30pm - a sandwich/wrap/toastie of some sort, fruit, and a couple of the small baby rice cake things
3pm - some veg sticks/a pack of her crisps
5.30pm - whatever we have for tea, she'll have the same and then a yoghurt for dessert
6.30pm - milk before bed and some supper if she didn't eat much of her tea

Imtootired · 23/08/2021 15:22

Haha thank you @pregnantncnc
The KFC was so nice, I hadn’t had it in ages, I was just a bit concerned it was too salty for little one so offered him extra water afterwards.
Does anyone else have trouble with lunch and nap times? I tend to give my little one plenty of snacks in the morning and then I think he probably won’t be hungry for lunch so he has a nap and then he has lunch so late.
At least my little one is very assertive and will go into the kitchen and start pointing at bananas and apples and tomatoes so I know if he’s really hungry!
I’d like to start making egg noodle stir fry for him because we love that when we’re out and about. He loves sucking up the noodles. Does anyone know a good recipe for that for kids?

SpamIAm · 23/08/2021 15:55

Not sure I want to write down today's food 😂 I was woken up to the sound of him being sick this morning, and I have a migraine, so we're not at our best!

He had a slice of marmite on toast and a (sweet) waffle this morning. Half a croissant while we were shopping. Then a hot dog and blueberries as a late lunch/afternoon snack. Tea tonight will be pasta with pesto, tomatoes, mozzarella, spinach and pine nuts.

BeefSupreme · 23/08/2021 15:55

Yesterday my 22 month old had;

Breakfast - spinach omelette
Lunch - chicken, peppers, mangetout, baby corn and onions and mild Mexican spice mix
Dinner - macaroni and broccoli and cauliflower cheese
Supper - peach and blueberries

He has roughly 150ml of milk at each meal. His water cup is always out for him to help himself at any point of the day.

I sometimes worry that he needs snacks. The time gap between breakfast and lunch is 5 or 6 hours. But he runs around all day and has endless energy so I think it’s maybe alright for him to only have meals.

SpamIAm · 23/08/2021 15:56

@Imtootired I used to use peanut butter mixed with sesame oil as a sort of satay sauce for noodles for DD.

Caspianberg · 23/08/2021 16:00

15 month old yesterday:
B: porridge with fruit purée. Banana
S: 1/4 crossiant
L: bread and butter, cucumber, cheese, melon, raspberries
S: plum and biscuit
D: chicken pie, green beans, potatoes

Sometimes he’s really fussy, sometimes better.

BeefSupreme · 23/08/2021 16:04

Today he has had;
Breakfast - porridge and raspberries and chia seeds and smooth peanut butter
Lunch - salmon, sweet potato and broccoli

Dinner will probably be stir fry- rice noodles, mangetout, kale, peppers, onion, chicken.
Maybe a yoghurt for supper.

BeefSupreme · 23/08/2021 16:07

Does anybody have any suggestions for homemade stir fry sauces? The shop-bought ones I like are all really sugary

Imtootired · 23/08/2021 16:13

Thanks, that sounds really good, and healthy too.

We have such trouble with lunch and nap. I've taken to doing two lunches most days (one at about 11.30am and the other at 3.30pm, he naps 12-3ish atm) until I can push his nap out a bit later.

Vicky1989x · 23/08/2021 21:26

15 months old. Today she was offered the following (although most was thrown on the floor as she’s teething Hmm):-

7am: 6oz milk
8am: toast with peanut butter, 1 weetabix with cows milk, pear purée pouch, biscotti biscuit
12pm: pasta bolognese bake, cucumber, kiwi, strawberries, melon & a yogurt
2pm: 6oz milk (trying to drop this but DD’s having none of it Grin)
4:30pm: cottage pie, broccoli, cauliflower & a fruit pouch
6:45pm: 6oz milk

DD has recently dropped her afternoon nap so naps 10-11:45/12 most days now. Trying to push it back slowly until after lunch so that’s why there’s no snacks between breakfast & lunch and an early dinner!

Made me laugh, we've been trying to drop the afternoon milk for a couple of months and DS isn't having any of it either Grin

Very interesting. My youngest is 32 years that is not months!
More meals than mine had but smaller portions maybe?
Just used to have breakfast, lunch, dinner. Fruit as a snack during the day but as and when they asked.
Interesting how things change.
