Good 'snack' food/finger food for out and about??

My dd is not 7 and a bit months and just beginning to eat solids properly, but I'm a little short on ideas for easy finger food snacks to take out and about with me. I'm giving her mashed up versions of what we eat at home (and some finger foods) but need ideas for quick, not-too-messy things to grab for that mid-meal snack. Just something to put in a little pot for between breakfast at 8 and lunch at 12, with a drink of water.

Giving rice cakes is getting a little dull, not only for me! I;ve seen those Organix carrot stick things that are like crisps (!) - are they any good? Also, any mini yogurts (preferably organic) out there which aren't full of added sugar?

Cheese, strips of pitta bread with a dip, fruit such as melon, banana, avocado are all good.

Eggy bread cubes - DS never seemed to mind they were stone cold!

How do you make eggy bread cubes? Will they last in the fridge? (I'm guessing they woudln't freeze?)

You need a snack trap. My dd has one and it's ace. Fill it with anything you fancy.

Cubes of cheese + grape halves + bran flakes?

Dried fruit?

Pieces of toast?

Fresh fruit pieces?

Bread sticks + cucumber battons?

Or, away from the snack trap, how good are her teeth? I find giving dd a whole piece of fruit (eg pear, apple, plum) keeps her quiet for ages in the pushchair. Even when she didn't have many teeth she was happy to suck and slobber a piece of fruit into submission.

No, I don't think they'd freeze. Just make eggy bread (beat an egg with a splash of milk and soak your bread on both sides. Fry in either oil or oil and butter mixed) and cut into cubes!

you can get breadsticks that are very good in terms of ingredients, just watch out for the salty or flavoured ones. Or cooled buttered toast, but I used to pinch all that myself . I gave up on bananas as they end up smelly mush in the bag. Little tub of raisis, dried pineapple and papaya bits. I found dryer things are good as it doesn't matter how long they are in the bag for, less messy to eat when you don't have your kitchen sink/childs wardrobe handy, and keep for next time if they don't get hungry.

Thanks Scootergrrrl! Broccoli - she has 2 new front teeth on the bottom and is just working out how to use them....thanks for all your ideas!

Any word about cups?! She's exclusively bf. and I've never used a bottle. I'm trying a Doidy at home, which she seems to like, but I pretty much hold it for her. Out and about though I use the Annabel Karmel one, a classic sippy cup I guess, which she doesn't really get at all or drink from. Should I try a Tommy Tippee?

Best cup I found was the Tommy Tippee sippy cut. But persevere with the doidy cup as it really helps when they can drink from a real cup.

My dd likes 'humzingers' - dried fruit sticks with no added sugar.

For 3 years I never left the house without bread sticks .
