Purées to blw

Daughter has started weaning with purées. Her baby is a fab eater now but at 9 months old doesn't want to know when offered finger foods or lumpier food. Any suggestions as to how to switch and any books that do the purée route first?
Daughter now getting so worried and anxiety is kicking in again.

I think it's just about persevering, to be honest. Can she combine smooth and lumpy - like porridge with chunky bits of banana in, just to help bridge the gap a bit? Pasta sauce with lumpy bits of steamed veg in? Also, she could try letting her baby use her hands. Many babies around that age don't want to be spoon fed anymore. Have her try putting a bowl of something (porridge, yogurt) in front of her and let her eat with her hands. Then she can explore the lumps with her own hands and might be a little more intrigued.

With traditional weaning your suppose to offer fingers food alongside puree after the first couple of weeks. You can’t swap as they are two different things but you needs to start offering finger foods along side. So give toast with breakfast, sticks which carrots at dinner time and at the same time make puree more chunky.

Do you recommend any particular books with simple recipes for ideas. I think because baby has always been on low percentile for weight ( although 75 percentile for length) and never really enjoys much formula, to see her dig into purées and eat loads was so refreshing she's stuck with it but is now panicking.

She's always offered a broccoli floret, carrot etc at meal times but baby shows little interest and pulls a face at feeling the texture and never puts it in her mouth. Funny though that everything else goes in her mouthGrin

The ella's kitchen book is good. That has purée - finger food transition recipes.

My little one didn't eat anything for a while either - but if she keeps introducing different bits and baby can explore the textures, it will eventually make it to her mouth 😊

Google porridge bars too, those are an easy recipe that are finger food but still nice and mushy!

I've googled the porridge bars. They look great. I've passed on all your info.
