so what age did you start giving your little people ham and bacon?

my ds is one tomorrow and i haven't given him any processed meat yet, thinking its waaaay too salty, but just wondered when you introduced it? Thanks!

Dont give him the processed stuff then.

Buy proper ham slices and real bacon rather than the full of water and salt stuff.

sorry i meant even the "real" stuff - think that any ham or bacon is classifed as "processed" as ham and bacon by definition has to be cured or salted or whatever to make it what it is - or so i heard a food expert saying the other day on the radio!
Wouldn't eat any of the stuff thats full of water..

I introduced tint bits of corned beef at 13 months, to make a corned beef hash with mash potato. My DS loves it, but so far it's a strict once a week treat, along with lots of fresh fruit for pudding and a cup of water. No ill effects. I think just use your common sense and vary your DD's diet. MY DS loves hummus too, but then I get lots of garlicky kisses all afternoon

I've given ds sandwiches with some little pieces of nice ham in them a couple of times in the last month or so (he's 1 next week). I reckon in the scheme of things it's ok in a generally low salt/salt free diet.
