Baby struggling to poop

My DD is really struggling to poop lately. She pushes for about 10 mins; goes red in the face and watery eyed.

She has breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is usually yoghurt/porridge/weetabix and fruit and lunch is mainly veg with the occasional meat dish thrown in and a small amount of fruit.

I've tried offering her extra water, water mixed with fruit juice, prunes, hot baths, massaged her tummy. Nothing is easing it for her.

Could I perhaps be overloading her?

How old is she? How long has she been weaning for?

LincolnshireLassInLondon · 21/03/2021 07:24

Hi OP, what veggies is she having? My DS is 10 months and carrots and parsnips make him really constipated. We cut those out and his poos got some much better. It could be something specific in her diet.

Bicycle legs ?

Poo.

Is she having any sips of water? My DD was passing really solid poos until I introduced some water in a sippy cup and that seems to have made a big difference

How old is she? I used to give mine the prune sachets and they worked well.

ronswansonstache · 21/03/2021 08:15

Sorry I see you've offered water! What about more watery veg? E.g aubergine and courgette?

Thatwentbadly · 21/03/2021 09:13

Drop the wheatbix completely and porridge if it’s that baby stuff.

Pear and a jumperoo session used to help DS1

Agree with ditching the Weetabix, that stuff can set like concrete.

How old is she? Mine liked things for breakfast like a fruit salad, smooth nut butter on white toast, porridge with berries or chopped banana. The youngest one even liked avocado on toast and we all like Berry pancakes.

Mine used to strain somewhat when breast and when bottle fed and he did have water. When he was eating solids, which he took to like a duck to water, it improved tremendously.

A squeeze of some fresh orange juice in warm water or a warmed mushy pear.

Pear and a jumperoo session used to help DS1 agree that usually works. The other thing you can do is arrange an appointment that you absolutely cannot be late for. They are guaranteed to do it just as you are leaving the house Grin
