11 month old turning food away, HELP!!

So...

My 11 month old is all of a sudden not eating solids, and it is also a struggle to get milk/water down too.

He was ill earlier in the week with a temperature and his temperature has now good. GP isn’t too concerned. He didn’t want to eat since his temperature has gone back to normal! He was eating for England when he was unwell.

He might still be feeling a bit poorly, which could explain why he doesn’t want to eat.
But he is refusing all his fave foods. He’s just not opening his mouth.
We’ve been doing a combination of spoon feeding and him feeding himself finger foods.

I am so worried.
In total, he is currently having anything from 350ml to 450ml formula and 100ml (or more) water.

He used to eat three big meals a day plus his milk so I am not used to this.

Will he get his appetite back?
What else can I do?

It’s only been a few days but it’s awful not seeing him enjoy his food at the moment.

I don’t think he is teething?

Did the GP check him over? Did they say to return if he doesn't pick up?

I'd be tempted to speak to the GP again tomorrow morning if he's still the same and ask them to check his ears, throat and tummy.

In the meantime, have you tried him with Calpol and felt to see if any teeth are coming through?

He is very well in himself now thankfully, but he did have a temperature, looked pale, very tired before.

He is eating very plain things at the mo, such as rice cakes or wafers. Not the most nutritious I know but he needs to eat something!

He’s had calpol and nurofen.

Thankfully he’s had a bit more to eat but I’m hoping he picks up.

GP said if he feels unwell again to come back.

If he is eating a little and drinking and looking better he should be fine, after a few days.

My DS used to have tonsillitis all of the time and would often not eat. As long as they're hydrated and not losing weight, they should be fine but if he's still the same on Monday, I would definitely ask the GP to check his ears, throat and tummy as any one of those can cause them to go off food without being too obvious.

Thank you for your help.

He’s also at the age where he won’t want as much milk, but will want more food so it’s a tricky one.

But very unusual for him to turn food away.

I’ve also heard of a food regression at this age.

I think there is a regression for everything!!Shock

He’s having lots of little sips of water throughout the day and water from his cup during meals. He’s barely wanted his milk but I’m not sure what else to try.

I might start vitamins.

Vitamins are a good idea. Have you tried him with an ice lolly or some ice cream too? You can make your own lollies with yoghurt and fruit and ice cream with frozen bananas if you don't want to give him processed stuff.

If he's been ill though it's very unlikely to be fussiness, just him feeling under the weather Smile

Update:
So far so good and seems almost back to normal self!
Eaten and drank lots more today. I think I was panicking too soon Blush
He also enjoys feeding himself a lot more so am
Encouraging that.

I haven’t tried ice lollies yet but I’ve been meaning to get the moulds so I can make some - good idea and thanks for reminding me!
