What is the safest way to reheat babies food?

right i have been cooking and then freezing in individual tubs, then defrosting the night before. when DS's meal is due i have been standing it in hot water. however has anyone else noticed that this takes for ages to heat up? so i have started to empty the contents into a saucepan and cook on the hob but my friend said this is not a safe way of doing it as you are recooking babies food and also killing the nutrients. what does everyone else do? also is it ok to add a bit of water when reheating as i find it looses some of the mouisture.
many thanks

If it's only been cooked once before, then of course it is fine to cook it on the hob, and of course you can add more water when re-heating. If you're worrying about losing nutrients just heat it up on the hob until it is steaming (piping hot) then take it off. Only over-cooking for ages will spoinl the nutrients.

This is actually safer than standing it in hot water in terms of germs and bugs too, as heating on the hob will kill any, whereas warming up in water like you suggested won't.

Hope this helps.

You could also try putting the tub the food is frozen in into a saucepan of boiling water with the lid still on the tub (provided it is heat-proof and won't melt!) so heating the food without loosing as much moisture.

I use the microwave..

I just get lunch and tea out in the morning, then zap in the microwave when I want them and let cool. Of course you can reheat them on the hob but microwave is quicker

I defrost and reheat in the microwave - great if you forget to take it out the night before. Heat to piping hot then allow it to cool before feeding it to your lo.
