My little one is on solids aswell as his bottles. He has 7oz bottle every 4 hours. I have introduced breakfast (porridge) and evening meal ( mashed sweet potato or carrot swede mash ect. Plus pudding. I tried him with jars for evening meal yesterday however he finished whole jar and then pudding and still reaching for more. Hes large for his age ( not over weight at all just tall and currently in size 9/12 clothes at 6 months. Should I introduce more solids earlier in the day or increase bottles I would really appreciate any advice from mums that have had same with there little ones

The jars contain a lot of water so arent very filling. If he's 6 months you could introduce more in the way of protein and give finger foods too. Maybe give him finger foods at lunch time if he's awake while you're having your lunch

Thank you, I am worried about finger food as he is teething and everything that gets put in his mouth ( teething rings ect) he pushes too far in and gags.

The gag reflex is normal. I would advise looking into the difference between gag reflex and choking.
My little one was a bigger lad as well I ended up just going with his requirements. If he was eating I let him eat however avoid trying to convince them to eat so things like aeroplanes as that can lead to over feeding.
There are some days he will devour everything in sight and others where he is not so hungry.

Have you seen the NHS weaning advice - can be reassuring www.nhs.uk/start4life/weaning? Good advice from Aimee1987 about finding out about gag reflex versus choking. When babies gag they are learning to move food from back to front of mouth as part of normal development. Sounds like you're doing great. Keep offering a range of tastes and don't be put off if he makes weird faces - that's normal too! It can be so tempting to give up on a food too soon, but if it's healthy and you want him to keep eating it, then keep offering and this will help avoid pickyness later on. Jar foods also taste sweeter too, so that's another reason they're often a big hit. Adding in bitter tastes like broccoli and cabbage can help if you want to avoid a sweet tooth situation!
