Breastmilk to food

Hi there, my almost seventeen month old is being weaned from breast milk. I've spent the last couple of months getting her used to none of the snacking feeds (she was drinking constantly all day long) and then she started nursery a few weeks ago so I've managed to cut down the day time feeds too. Now I'm going for getting rid of the night and evening feeds completely so she is left with just the morning feed, which I don't mind her having for the immunity side of things and morning comfort after a long night of controlled crying.

However, I can't get her to eat her dinner, so I'm worried about her getting enough in her tummy for a good night's sleep. I don't want to give her cows milk for my own personal reasons. She eats plenty for breakfast and lunch and some snacks but as the day goes on she eats a lot less and won't eat dinner at all. I think it might be because she has always been used to the night feeds. I'm hoping that as she gets used to not being breastfed so much her appetite will increase.

How much food does a seventeen month old need, baring in mind she will most likely be having one breastmilk feed a day for now, to keep her energy levels up?

What will you be giving to replace the milk feeds? They're still supposed to have the equivalent of 300/350mls of milk for the calcium and vitamins it contains.

Are you vegan? Like the above poster said she'll probably still need a little bit more milk than that.

We eat whole foods, packed with calcium protein etc. NHS website says no cows milk needed after 12 months, if cows milk has never been given. As her body is used to breastmilk and fresh foods, that will be the transition we will be making, to less breastmilk and more lovely nutrient dense foods.

Are you giving a milk substitute or not?

I've no idea on the dairy as I've always just given cows milk and formula. I don't know anything about dairy alternatives but is there another kind of milk she could have as a last drink before bed?

Having said that, my eldest has always preferred to eat a big breakfast and lunch with a lighter tea and he is 98th centile for both height and weight. Sometimes he barely touches his evening meal. It doesn't necessarily follow that they need to stock up for the night
