BLW ideas to combine what we cook

DS is 5 months and due to severe reflux and weight loss/poor gain, both paediatrician and dietitian have advised we start weaning early in the hope that the quicker he gets the hang of it, the sooner he will eat more and fingers crossed keep more food down than he does milk.
We have just tried him on a finger of bread, stick of steamed carrot/cucumber/brocolli (all on separate days) and he is very good at picking it up and sucking the life out of it, then spitting it back out which is to be expected). But what else can we try that we can have as part of our evening meal that I can give him bits of. We did purée with DD 8 years ago so forgotten all about weaning. Also at what stage do you begin to offer food at more than one time of the day?

Salmon, new potatoes and steamed green beans. Cook the potatoes a tad longer than you would normally and rinse his new potato under cold water to cool it down!

You could have penne pasta and give him a piece of plain pasta to chomp on. I used to make this for me and DH, but I’d grill the chicken first and give DC a strip of it along with the pasta www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chicken-creamy-bacon-penne

Dd used to love a bit of Yorkshire pudding from our roast dinner.

You could give him a bit of a simple frittata/omelette www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/real-spanish-omelette I usually add a bit of cheese to this, but it’s fine without. Eggs should be fine is they’re well cooked like this.

When I had avocado toast, dd used to have a nibble of mine (before I added salt and pepper).

I started weaning with 1 meal a day at 6 months, offered 2 meals at 7 months and was on 3 meals at about 8 months.

We just bought the ‘what mummy makes’ book and it’s got really good recipes for family meals suitable for babies. Quite a few simple pasta sauces in there if your baby likes to suck on pasta and you want to add a bit of flavour. We had butter chicken from the book tonight, DD wasn’t too successful at eating the chicken but really enjoyed licking the curry sauce off it.

I also make things like homemade chips for my DD with normal potato, sweet potato and butternut squash. Super easy to hold and eat and they don’t take ages to make either!

We started off with one meal at 6 months and did exactly the same as PP with offering one meal a month.
