do i need to give my baby extra milk if he doesn't feel like solids?

DS (8.5 months) is under the weather (cold/ teeth). he's up to three respectable meals a day but didn't really eat any solids to speak of yesterday and has only managed a bit of cheese today - he's even refusing banana FFS.

he still has one BF in the morning, a 150ml bottle of formula for elevenses and 180ml at bedtime.

should i offer him an extra bottle to make up for his missed lunch?

i wouldn't if he normally has a good appettte. Offer easy to eat food (fruit etc) often though as his appetite may pick up again not at the right time for a proper meal

Lulu - I'm having a similar problem. DD is 11 mths and has a cold, teeth coming in AND a runny tummy. Gone off all solids and also even refusing banana!

After several days of this she is now waking at 5:30AM because she is hungry having eaten so little. Then she is tired and cranky (as am I). Today I've tried adding an extra milk feed to compensate for lack of solids. Will see if this helps.

Guess I'd say if it is just a couple of days and isn't affecting sleep not to worry, but maybe if it carries on offer more milk.

I'd be interested if anyone has other better suggestions though.

i think demand feeding is pretty much always the way to go, so there's no harm in making a bottle available and seeing if he goes for it, imo.
