I've totally forgot how to wean Blush it's been 4 years! My 6 and a half month old has been weaning for 2 month. Paediatrician advised us to wean at 4 months due to acid reflux and poor milk intake. He's just been having fruits and veggies but now he's over 6 months I'm not sure when to up to 3 meals and puddings?
Atm he has bottle at 7 am , porridge and bottle at 10am, 1pm some food (no pudding) and a bottle. Bottle at 4:30 and 7:30.
Not sure if I should add a pudding to his dinner and drop his bottle or add in a meal for tea then drop a bottle? I realy can't remember how I done it first time x

How much milk is he having in total? Can you not just let him cut the milk down himself as solids increase. I would add in other foods e.g. meat, carbs, dairy, etc before cutting milk

I started at 6 months, adding solids a few mouthfuls at a time, after their usual milk feed at lunchtime. Most babies will balance their milk intake with their solid food intake well if you feed in this way.
At about 8-9 months, I offered solids as part of breakfast, lunch and dinner. From 9 months I started giving solids first, then milk.
Every child is different, but as a rough guideline I think they should be having 20oz until they’re about 9 or 10 months. My little one started dropping milk feeds at about 8 months. Once 3 meals a day had been established, with snacks during the day, he dropped his morning feed and then his afternoon 3pm feed. If your DS is drinking less milk, offer a drink of water with every meal or snack to make sure he stays well hydrated and offer dairy products to help him get enough protein and calcium.

I started with single-ingredient foods for the first few weeks so I would be able to pinpoint any food allergies. As I wanted LO to be able to have some of what we were having and I didn’t want to cook anything extra, I had meat-and-two-veg type meals for a few weeks. E.g. salmon and new potatoes, and I just gave Lo some salmon flakes and chunks of new potato.

Milk is high calories so for now I would continue giving food after milk. Do you have a paediatric dietitian?

Ah really ! The paediatrician said to give food first and then milk. Yeah he has a dietician as well

we never gave milk at the same time as food but milk was always first e.g.
Milk at 7, 11, 3, 7
Food at 8, 12 and 5
As weaning progressed daytime milk was reduced and then replaced with a snack and drink of water - not until 9 months old or so though
