Food pouches hot or cold?

Just wondering with food pouches for example chicken casserole or chicken and veg is it still ok to give them cold or does it have to be warmed?

They can be given hot or cold. Might be more appetising if heated though

IndieRo · 02/07/2020 11:05

I always warmed the dinner type ones

catzrulz · 02/07/2020 11:10

Would you like cold chicken casserole for dinner? No, then heat it up.

Pinkblueberry · 02/07/2020 11:11

Heat it up.

HappyDinosaur · 02/07/2020 11:16

I think they probably taste better warm, but if you are out and about just pop it in a pocket for a bit and it will do the trick.

BarrytheFatcat · 02/07/2020 11:23

I used to put the pouches in a jug of hot water, it's probably safer than putting them in the microwave

Pinkflipflop85 · 02/07/2020 11:23

Heat them up. Those pouches are grim enough as it is without them being cold and congealed too!

Sunnydayshereatlast · 02/07/2020 11:25

How will you expect dc to cope with warm /hot toddler meal times without experiencing hot meals now?

Flynn999 · 02/07/2020 11:57

Ds always ate his cold. He refused them warm 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Chicchicchicchiclana · 02/07/2020 12:00

I can't get over these awful food pouches! They're a terrible invention - just why?

But to answer your question op, they are cooked so safe to eat cold but I think heated up and cooled down would be much nicer for your baby.

Georgielovespie · 02/07/2020 12:06

I only used jars (before pouches) if I was out and about so I fed them at room temperature because I didn't always have access to warming facilities. Plus it is then an immediate feed, no waiting.

But if you are at home and using pouches then I would decant some into a bowl and feed them from that. I would be worried about a hot spot if they were to feed themselves by squeezing a pouch.

I always gave them warm by sitting them in a bowl of boiled water for a few mins them giving them a squeeze round. They are much more appetising warm. If you’re out and about you could take a flask of hot water and a bowl to warm the pouch in.
