Any good resources for BLW?

Hello!
My son is just over 5 months and we're thinking about weaning soon. My sister in law swears by baby led weaning and I'd like to give it a go but keep reading lots of things about how babies can end up deficient as they don't eat enough. This may sound a bit mad as well but my son is quite passive and relaxed as well and gas never having a huge appetiser for milk - I worry he just will not really feed himself!

Are there any good resources you could recommend? Even things like YouTube videos for me to get an idea of how to practically do it.

Thanks in advance!

The gill rapley book explains it all. That’s all you need really, as unlike traditional weaning you don’t need to faff around pureeing or anything, just give your son the food you eat (as long as it’s fairly healthy). I also have a stash of things like breadsticks and raisins and those baby crisps and stuff.

My daughter really didn’t get eating until about 11 months. I started at 6 and often she’d barely eat solids. I was beginning to get worried but suddenly it clicked - her milk consumption went down and she actually started eating. Another friend also started at 6m and her daughter was eating properly by 7 months! Babies do get most of what they need from milk until 1 year. Incidentally, when I was worrying both my childminder and I both tried spoon feeding to just get food in, and my daughter wasn’t having any of it. She’d smack the spoon away, keep her mouth closed or spit food out. Spoon feeding isn’t necessarily a guaranteed way to make them eat!

Thanks for the message @modgepodge ! My sister in law said exactly same thing white her daughter. At 6 months she still had the spitting reflex so wouldn't really keep anything in her mouth. She again was slow and there were times when she felt anxious. All of a sudden though as you say it clicked and now she says it's great.
I'll definitely get that book - thank you so much!

Whatmummymakes is a brill insta account - lots of ideas for BLW and really simple but tasty recipes. Had a slow-ish start but appetite has rocketed when he hit 8.5 months and started crawling!

That’s interesting poppet - mine started crawling around the time she started eating too. Hadn’t made that link before!
