Pouches

First of all no judgement for using pouches please. My baby is 6.5 months old now so we’ve been weaning just under a month. We’re making very slow progress doing I guess combined weaning. We cut up sticks of fruit and veg for them to pick up and chew/suck on and started puréeing our own veg.
For the first week or so absolutely nothing got swallowed everything got spat out. We are getting better now with the sticks we are giving them. Against what I’d hoped for, I’ve now started using ellas kitchen pouches and baby absolutely loves them. How much of a 120g pouch would you give per sitting? We’re still only doing lunch at the moment.

However much they want to eat as long as they are in control eg feeding themselves rather than you spoon feeding so that they can respond to their own hunger cues.

If you are spoon feeding, just pay attention to them becoming uninterested and don't try anymore once they are starting to turn head away etc. I think babies have hungry and not so hungry days, just like us. Ivd also lean towards doing more veg than fruit

I’m loading the spoon up and its being grabbed off me and into their mouth! The pouches I’m buying are the more heavily veg based ones. My purée just didn’t cut the mustard. Blush

I think shop bought ones do add fruit for sweetness so lots of babies prefer them. Sounds like is hungry so just let her fill her boots!

My baby hates the pouches, my friends baby hates home cooked food - it's not always the parents who choose :)

Don't be too worried at 6.5 months. What you are looking for is that baby learns to swallow, and in a few more weeks can do the chewing motion.

Add fruit to your veg purées - carrot and apple, squash and pear etc. And roll with it, some baby's get to grips with it really quickly, others don't.

You could also try baby porridge for breakfast but better to stick with the same meal as food until you regularly introduce a second meal.

The texture of pouches is quite different to home made purees, so if you're sticking with pouches try and have more texture variety in the finger foods.. It'll help with more varied diet later

Hey all can I ask a quick question to do with this ..
I have also stated using the pouches - my LG has porridge and then a few spoons of a pouch for lunch she's 5 months - and yes I know it's recomened 6 but I was advised. Anyway
Do you just change up the pouches to allow them to get used to various tastes? Like when the pouch is done or daily :)? X
