Yogurt for 6 mo

Booper13 · 05/09/2007 22:09

I haven't introduced any dairy yet as my 6 mo is only starting to have tastes of various fruit and veg and baby rice. I was thinking of trying some yogurt and would welcome some advice on which brands are best as I obv don't want ones which are full of sugar.
Thanks xx

Yeo Valley plain yogurt mixed with your choice of fruit. Nothing but yoghurt and utterly delicious.

God yes - second the plain natural yoghurt and fruit. Much cheaper, much nicer, and you get to make your own varieties. What's interesting is that now other yoghurts taste much too sugary to me.

greek yogurt is nice as well and its a bit thicker so can be easier to eat. Again plain and put fruit in if you like. Also plain fromage frais

All the kids yogurts etc seem to have more sugar than fruit in them, other than little dish I think (but they are bloody expensive!).

If I am being very lazy I use bought in fruit puree

mascapone also goes down really well.

don't go for anything at all that's marketed at children. look for a nice pot of whole plain natural yoghurt. if it looks boring and plain then that's good. if it has cartoons and babies on it then that's no good.

Rachel's Organic yoghurts are just plain yoghurt with fruit puree added no sugar or additives, I find them a bit runny though.

also look for things that are high in fat. Fundamentally tastier and much better for dcs (although not for us). With more creamier stuff you won't need to add sugar if serving it with sour fruit like blackcurrants, stewed apple and the like

Thanks everyone for your replies. I like Yeo Valley natural (but I usually get the low fat one which is still surprisingly creamy tasting). I will get the full fat one for DS though. xx
