BLW and constipation...

lol... nice topic name i know...

DD is 5 and a half months, a little young to start, i know, but she's incredibly keen! i know she doesn't need it, and its all just for fun!

My question is, would the bits and pieces she is getting (found a 1/2cm bit of green bean in her nappy the other day ) make her a bit constipated? She only seems to poo once or twice a week now, and while she didn't poo that much more before this, it was about every 2-3days, so i just thought i'd ask

btw there's lots of lovely wet nappies, and she doesn't seem at all bothered, apart from when she gets a bout of wind down there...

seems a bit daft to stop when she's doing so well, and she'll be 6mths in a week or so...

what do you all think?

it took months before dd's poo was like a normal human poo, but some babies' digestive systems get the hang of it quicker. if you think she's fine i'd leave it, making sure to offer nice ripe fruit to keep things ticking along. pmsl at the thread title, btw.

well she ADORES nectarine, so i'll make sure she gets some of that bananas are slippery enough without being entirely ripe tho :p

when are they okay to have raisins btw?

thanks aitch

ah, that might be the problem. banana is a well-known poo-blocker-upper. she's ready for raisins just as soon as she can pick 'em up. i used to give dd a prune to chew on, i think i kinda ripped the skin and she sooked the inside. messy.

right! no more bananas then!!

OOOH! i have some tinned prunes i think... what about dried apricots? same sort of thing right?

han x

What are her poos like when she goes? Pooing infrequently isn't a problem - hard poos are.

ooh so glad to have found this thread ! DS has only managed to swallow the odd bit here or there, biut didn't do a poo for 3 days and he's normally a twice a day boy.

we'd been doing toast so i had thought that was the culprit, but we've also been doing the odd banana too...

you know what i can't believe is, he's taking a tiny tiny amount of food and yet his poo stinks so different !!!!!!!! sorry grim i know.

how are you coping with the gagging ? I'm still panicking, hence have not given him much food to play with !!!
