Very random question more to put my mind at ease. I've Made some homemade vegetable puree For freezer to slowly start introducing to son this week. Was in a rush so blended it straight from being cooked and into a silicone mold. Will this be ok?? Read a few things that it should be let to cool a bit first. It's currently in the fridge cooling to be transfered to freezer

Cooling is before fridges could handle warm things so it’ll be fine

PiafPilaf · 12/01/2020 16:58

It’ll be fine. I could never be bothered doing this - we just gave ours bits of whatever we were eating!

That's what im intending to do, but I had a secound and while I was preping tea decided to get ahead of myself slighty. Thankyou for your replies

It'll be totally fine.

I used to also mash an avocado with banana and my DD loved it.
Very quick and easy!

I'll deffiantly give that one a go, thankyou

I did as you've done nearly 20 years ago with dd she's still alive to tell the tale Grin

And that was old style fridges and freezers. It'll be absolutely fine now.

The bugger is when you've done a dozen portions of puréed carrot or whatever and they don't like it!

I made that mistake with dd with courgette!

We missed the puree phase and just did bits of ours or steamed veggies. But as others have said it will be fine.

And yes it's generally easier to just do them a mashed up portion of whatever you're having if suitable.

I don't cook with salt anyway, but had to be careful with certain herbs and spices as they'd give her diarrhoea.

I'd have things "on standby" for if we were having something she couldn't yet manage.

Mashed banana and avocado is one
Tuna with a little instant mash and cheese - tuna pie
Tinned veggies (carrots, peas, green beans, broad beans, spinach etc) already cooked and easy to mash/purée then heat up

I used to get fish fingers and take the breadcrumb coating off and eat it and give dd the fish with veg or baked beans sometimes toast or pasta or again a bit of mash

You'll figure it out as you go along and probably end up feeding them some bonkers meals too because that's what they like at that time - yes dd that's me remembering you eating hot dog sausages carrots and marmite on toast several times over a few weeks when that was the only thing I knew you'd definitely eat Envy
