Canned / tinned chick peas, kidney beans etc etc

Hello,
My darling son is approaching 8 months and I want to start introducing as many beams, chick peas, kidney beans etc in his diet. A lot of the canned food is in water and when I look at the content it says either salted water or water with sulphites. Does anyone still give these to their babies and also can you recommend any that are safe for babies to eat regularly as we are vegetarian so would like to give him these everyday for protein. Many thanks

I'd be careful for other reasons. The wind makes them really uncomfortable.

Of you look for organic tinned brands they often say beans and water with no slat or sulphites. Tesco do chickpeas in water ( check the ingredients ) and there is a brand called suma that does loads of different
beans in water. I get them from my local.coop. not sure if beans are ok for babies

I would try ref lentils though . They can be cooked from dry really quickly. . I used to give Ds these

Another alternative is to soak and cook pulses from dried but freeze them in batches so you can quickly heat them up and puree them without all the soaking and boiliing

I can't remember when exactly I have these to DS but we cook a lot of beans, chick peas and lentils, in stews and soups. Always cool from scratch/dry, don't really use canned, I feel it's better as I can control what goes in. They freeze really well so you could buy and cook a big batch and freeze portions easily, it saves a lot of time!

Re wind drain them and rinse really well under running water until clear and bubbles stop. I normally then quickly boil or steam too and it really helps! IBS sufferer.
