Hiya,

I've got a near 14 yr old son and also have a 4 month old daughter, and I honestly feel like I'm starting from scratch all over again and worrying about silly things which I know I never did with my son, maybe because I was a young teenager myself and lived at home with my mum so helped alot, where as now I'm settled in my own family home and lot older so feel alot more cautious.

My daughter suffers with silent reflux so has been prescribed cow and gate in stant which has helped wonders and she's now back to her happy smiley self again.

At our jabs appt last week the HV said to wean her before 6 months as she needs thicker food to stop the reflux so having food would be good for her, leave it till she is about 20 weeks, she will be 18 weeks this coming Saturday.

My question is what is best to start weaning with, I've bought some reduced sugar rusks plain and banana, baby rice, baby porridge plain and banana, don't want to introduce the wrong things to early and upset her little belly now we've got her back settled again with the instant powder.

I feel so silly asking as I've done it all before but was so many years ago I feel at a total loss at what's the best thing to do, I genuinely feel like a first time mum 🙈.

Any advice much appreciated

Thank you

Tara x

Maybe some butternut squash made at home and frozen my sons first food and he loved it allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/40182/butternut-squash-baby-food.aspx

One squash does a lot of portions and it’s naturally sweet just purée and freeze the excess my health visitor gave me s list of recipes too perhaps ask if they have one too x x

Start with purée/blended veg & fruit as outline in the above link I posted. There’s no nutrition in baby rice and rusks although ok for the odd treat I wouldn’t recommend as a first food at less than 6 months

I meant I wouldn’t recommend rusks as a first food, only as an occasional treat for baby to nibble on

I wouldn't give the rusks at all, even reduced ones are high in sugar
